Policies and Guidelines

Adults are role models for children. Please demonstrate courtesy and respect to one another while enjoying the exhibits and programs.
Obscene, profane or abusive language is not allowed.
Visitors are required to comply with Museum policies, rules, and instructions posted or otherwise listed or verbally communicated.
Compliance with all local, state and federal laws apply here as well.
Parents, or caregivers, are responsible for the actions and safety of their children. No Team Member can take the place of adult supervision. Please have fun with, and supervise, your children.
We are a device-distraction free zone, so we kindly ask guests to refrain from chatting or texting on phones. Videos and pictures are more than welcome!
Kids Discovery Statioon encourages developmentally appropriate risk taking. Some elements in the museum have age guidelines or a minimum age to help parents and guardians to assess safety for their child(ren). However, each child is different and adults are responsible to provide direct supervision for the safety and security of the child(ren) in their care. There is inherent risk involved in all elements of play. Kids Discovery Station is not responsible for injuries that occur at the Museum. Please stay close to your child(ren), use each play element only as intended, and ask a Team Member for guidance if needed.
We ask visitors to be vigilant in practicing good hygiene, to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19, and to please refrain from visiting if you are ill or experiencing any symptoms.
Balloons are not allowed on site.
Soliciting is not allowed.
Using Kids Discovery Station for anything other than its intended purpose or for other than normal and reasonable functions is not allowed.

Please note Kids Discovery Station has the right to ask anyone who violates these guidelines, or any other Museum policies, to leave the premises. If violations are repeated, the individual may be denied the privilege of Museum use for a set period of time or indefinitely.

Kids Discovery Station reserves the right to refuse service and/or access, and revoke a membership, to any individuals for any reason, including disregarding the Museum policies or those disrespectful of the Museum’s guests, staff, exhibits or property.

Attendance

Adults who are not accompanied by children are not allowed in the Museum.
We require at least one adult caregiver for every 4 children
All children must be accompanied by an adult over 18 at all times. Please do not leave your child unattended or unsupervised anywhere inside the museum.

Guests are welcome to enter and return to the museum for day-of visits with their receipt (in and out privileges for day of visits)
Admission tickets can be purchased in-person at the museum. Admission tickets are not refundable and may not be re-sold.
On occasion, Kids Discovery Station may be closed for facility upgrades or private events. We do our best to notify both members and the general public of any closures. Open days and hours are subject to change without prior notice.

Accessibility

The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County is wheelchair accessible. A lift is available to access the mezzanine level in our Science & Imagination Gallery.
Documented service animals specially trained to assist disabled persons are welcome, but please no pets.
If you need special accommodations, please let a staff member know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Restrooms & Changing Tables

Restrooms are located in Innovation Island and Little Explorers Plants
Changing Tables and a private and quiet place to nurse can be found in our Family Restrooms in Little Explorers Planet

Attire

Guests are not permitted to enter the building without shoes and appropriate clothing.
Sun: While most of our outdoor space has shade structures some are might be exposed to the sun. Please bring sun protection
Water: Some of our guided activities may include water. Please plan accordingly and bring a change of clothes.
Shoes: Shoes must be kept on at all times except when utilizing our crawler space, which is a shoes-off area.
Art: Activities in the art room and other guided activities have the potential to be colorful and messy. Please plan accordingly!

Personal Belongings

Due to limited space we recommend leaving strollers in the car. We do not have a designated area to park strollers.
We have cubbies located in our Front Desk Area for guests to use. The cubbies do not lock. Kids Discovery Station is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Food & Drinks

Visitors may bring outside food and drinks and eat and drink in the outside picnic areas of the Museum. (Please only eat in our designated picnic areas).
Glass containers, alcohol are not permitted on the premises.
We make an effort to be peanut free – please pack lunches and snacks with no peanut butter or tree nuts.
Tables cannot be reserved or saved, and birthday parties/groups are not permitted. To celebrate your birthday at the Museum, please see our Birthday Party page.

Prohibited Items

Smoking or Vaping is not allowed anywhere on the Museum property, including the parking lot.
Abusive and obscene language is prohibited.
Alcohol, illegal substances, glass bottles, and weapons are prohibited.

Photo & Film Policy

By entering Kids Discovery Station's premises you agree that Kids Discovery Station has the right to use your likeness, image, voice, etc. in video, and in any marketing, advertising, or related endeavors in a legitimate manner which is not intended to cause any embarrassment or undue harm.
