Festival of Lights: Diwali

Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists, notably Newar Buddhists. The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika.

Event Details

Purpose Behind Play: Cultural exposure, social and emotional understanding, strengthening fine motor skills, promoting open-ended art

Creativity City: Light up the night by making a paper diya to take home.

Home Valley: Partake in a community mandala painting.

Little Explorers Planet: "The Diwali Gift" Storytime at 2:00pm.

Grown-up Tip: Relate your traditions to those of other cultures so your child can make connections and see the similarities within each culture!
