A collaboration between the Smithsonian Institute and Kids Discovery Station
Learn about how Merced's values contribute to the nation as the United States of America will be turning 250 years old next year. This program is designed for children and teens ages 10 through 16. This is a virtual exchange with the Boys and Girls Club in South Lake Tahoe. We will be learning about our similarities and differences.
We will meet every Thursday from October 9th through October 30th (4 weeks) from 5-6:30pm at Kids Discovery Station.
Learn about different cultures and backgrounds in our local community such as our Latino, Native, and Hmong communities.
The 4 sessions will be conculded with a film and photo project that we will all be working on together.
Highlights of this program are:
Interviews with Merced city officials
Certificates from the Smithsonian
Complies California Content Standards
Complies with Homeschool Standards (if applicable, we can provide more information and photos if requested)
Final Project which will be displayed in the museum
Knowledge about Merced
Live exchange with children from South Lake Tahoe (via Zoom)
